New Temporary Disconnect/Reconnect Tool

Communications Services is pleased to announce the introduction of the new Temporary Telephone Disconnect/Reconnect Tool. This online, "do it yourself" application is designed to allow departments to manage standard telephone line connection status changes without having to go through the usual Communications Services work order process.

As many of our customers already know, temporary disconnection of faculty or staff telephone lines may help departments reduce monthly telephone expenses. The new application can be used when a department wants to deactivate a telephone line for an indefinite period of time but still retain the original telephone number. The most frequent use of this service is by academic departments, who disconnect some faculty telephone lines over the summer and during leave periods. Departments then restore the line to standard service when needed.
