All pay telephones located on the
UCSB campus are the property and responsibility of Verizon California.
Communications Services acts as the sole agent between UCSB and Verizon on all
matters related to these telephones.
If you feel that a coin-operated telephone is needed in, directly outside,
or near your building, you should contact us. We will coordinate a site survey to
help determine a suitable location.
Site Survey and Review Procedure
The choice of a site for a pay telephone is crucial: if the
telephone is located in an area that will not produce enough revenue to justify
it, Verizon will consider it a private instrument and will charge a one-time
installation fee, as well as a recurring fee.
The results of the site survey
will be reviewed by the Environmental Health and Safety Director. They will then be presented to the
Small Projects Committee
for their review and comment.
Due to the extensive planning and review required, the installation of a
pay telephone can take several months or more to complete.
